Hand Made Bike Frames
Kumo Cycles is a one man frame shop run by myself, Keith Marshall, from my workshop just outside Canberra.
An avid cyclist and metal worker, I have been building handmade bicycle frames since early 2011.
My love of the hand built frame, and drive to start building them was triggered by many things: partly due to the fact that I am 6 foot 4, narrowing down off the shelf frame options, partly due to the fact that I have an incurable desire to build and create and partly due to inspiring trips to Japan where I ogled handmade frames by the likes of Nagasawa San, Cerubim, Vivalo and many others.
This Japanese inspiration and aesthetic shines through in my business name: Kumo, Japanese for cloud, represents the qualities that I like to instil in my frames, I like to create something that will glide across the road as a cloud does in the sky. The qualities of steel, especially the high grade lightweight steels that we have access to today allow me to do this. My goal is to create a bike which integrates seamlessly with the rider for hours in the saddle.
The lightning depicted in my logo represents the beginnings of the frame, forged in flame of the Oxy Acetylene flame or the sun-hot arc of the TIG welding machine.
Please feel free to visit the frame gallery and facebook pages to see what I can do, and if you like what you see please feel free to contact me at kumocycles@ gmail.com!
Please Note: I will be on Holiday till the 13th of June
I will not be able to answer my phone but will still be answering emails.
Please feel free to email me any questions, and you are most welcome to place a deposit and join the build queue
